Did your family move and you have to go to a new school? Here are some ways to help you survive your first day as the "new teen kid".
Steps
- Be confident. Walk in to that school with pride. Remember that people base a lot on a first impression.
- Get used to the school, walk around it, figure out where your classes are, the bathroom, drinking fountain, etc.
- Pack a cold lunch on the first day so that you can get to the lunch room earlier and find a table that you can have to yourself; that way it will not be as embarrassing walking in and having nowhere to sit.
- Join in some after school activities, that way you will meet some friends that have the same interests as you.
- Introduce yourself to your new teachers, that way they will respect you and have a good idea of you.
- Try to look your best the first day of school. Wear your best outfit (not fancy), and do your hair nice and neat.
Tips
- Be outgoing. It will get you noticed in a good way. Make sure you're not over excited to hang out with people -- they will want to get to know you before you join a group.
- The good thing about starting at a new school is that you get to start over. So be outgoing and happy.
- Try to talk to everyone in your class; it's the best way to make friends.
- Don't try to be popular, most teens will like you and respect you more if you be yourself.
- Don't lie, or say stuff about your self that isn't true. You'll just keep doing it, and it will be very obvious that its not true.
- Don't be too outgoing; people will think that you are just plain weird and may not give you another chance.
